7/23: App State Brew: Talkin' Ball

Mountaineers Hit the Stage Today at Sun Belt Media Days in NOLA

Good Morning, App State Fam. Let’s be honest here, was there ever a doubt?

What else do we have stirring? Check it out below!

🎙️ Talkin’ Ball
🏈 Preseason Praise
⏱️ Countdown To Kickoff
🟡 And much more!

3️⃣7️⃣ days from kickoff…

The Mountaineers opened the 2008 FCS playoffs with a 3️⃣7️⃣-21 victory over South Carolina State.

App State took a 17-14 lead late in the first half and never looked back, claiming a first-round victory with Armanti Edwards and Brian Quick leading the way.

Edwards threw for a school-record 433 yards and four TDs, two of which went to Quick, who capped off the game with a late 33-yard score that gave Edwards the school record following a series of South Carolina State timeouts.

🔼 Talkin’ Ball. Now, it’s starting to get real.

With kickoff of the 2025 season closing in, there’s no better time to talk some App State football than now and that’s just what will be happening down in New Orleans as the Mountaineers take the main stage at Sun Belt Media Days later today.

Joining first-year head coach Dowell Loggains at the event are senior OL Jayden Ramsey and senior DL Shawn Collins.

The main podium feed for App State is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. EST.

The event is being held at the New Orleans Marriott Warehouse Arts District in downtown New Orleans, La., and will be broadcast nationwide on ESPN+.

For the second straight year, the multicast will feature two separate feeds—the traditional Sun Belt Football Media Days Show, which will incorporate portions of the Main Stage and Sun Belt Studio appearances from each team alongside analysis from hosts Matt Stewart and Rocky Boiman, and the Sun Belt Football Media Days Podium Feed, which will showcase the Main Stage appearances from each team in their entirety.

🔼 Preseason Praise. The season is still weeks away, but the praise has started early for senior wide receiver Dalton Stroman, who was named a Preseason All-Sun Belt second-team selection this week.

Stroman, one of five Mountaineers who are entering their fifth seasons in Boone, has totaled 12 touchdown catches and averaged 18.0 yards per catch during his App State career to date.

🔼 Class Acts. The success of our Mountaineers were just limited to the field of competition this spring, they dominated the classroom as well.

This week, the App State tennis squad earned an ITA Tennis All-Academic team award, while seven Mountaineer student-athletes were named ITA scholar-athletes.

In addition, the App State track & field squad had four Mountaineers named All-Academic Athletes, while both the men's and women's track & field teams earned All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

In that playoff victory in 2008 over South Carolina State, Brian Quick and Armanti Edwards connected twice for TDs.

In their two years together, how many times did Quick and Edwards connect on TD passes?

Got a guess?
