Good morning, App State Fam. The calendar may read January, but the weather this week is giving us a sneak peek of spring.

We’re not too far from the return of the Mountaineers on the diamond!

Our first basketball show of the year is a point guard edition with Emma Smith and Alonzo Dodd as well as head coaches Alaura Sharp and Dustin Kerns.

🔼 First Pitch Is Coming. Coming off the first Sun Belt Tournament berth since 2022, the App State Softball program returned to the diamond this week to begin final preparations for the upcoming 2026 season.

Entering year two under the leadership of Head Coach Whitney Jones, the Mountaineers are spending the week in Pawley’s Island for a spring training trip with the season opener just 30 days away.

App State will open the year with a weekend at UNCW, playing two games against the host school, two against Kennesaw State and one against George Washington.

🔼 Back At Home. Five of the seven wins this season for the App State Women’s Basketball program have come at home.

Tonight, the Mountaineers will look to pick up another win when they return to the Holmes Convocation Center for a conference showdown with Coastal Carolina.

Tip time is set for 6:30 p.m.
