Mountaineers Pick Up Wins On The Court and On The Mat on Thursday

Good morning, App State Fam. The wins are great. The championships are unforgettable. But the real success comes in growing these Mountaineers as individuals.
Tremendous experience for our guys this week down in Atlanta.
What all do we have stirring in today’s Brew? Check it out below.
🏀 Toughin’ It Out
🤼 Hosed Down
📈 Movin’ On Up
🟡 And much more

In our first episode of 2026, we chat with Doug Gillin to discuss the transition of App State football into the new year and the season of the transfer portal, plus review the key priorities for App State Athletics.
🔼 Toughin’ It Out. In a game that featured eight ties and six lead changes, the App State Men’s Basketball team gutted out a hard-fought 52-50 road victory over Georgia State on Thursday night.
Both teams combined for just 10 3-pointers on the night, but the biggest shot of the night was one of those 10 as Kasen Jennings dialed it up from long range with the score tied at 48 in the final 90 seconds of the contest.
Jennings (10 pts, five rebounds) was one of three Mountaineers in double-figures. Luke Wilson continued his strong play with a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double, while Jalen Tot chipped in 14 points on the night.
The Mountaineers have now won six of their past eight heading into a Saturday road tilt at Coastal Carolina.
🔼 Hosed Down. Stepping into conference action for the first time this season, the App State Wrestling squad demonstrated why they are the reigning SoCon champions with a dominant 46-4 victory over Presbyterian on Thursday night.
The Mountaineers won nine of the 10 matches with three pins, three tech falls, two majors, one decision and one forfeit.
🔼 Howdy, Partners. This week, the App State basketball programs learned their matchups for the second round of the annual MAC-SBC Challenge scheduled for next month.
On the men’s side, the Mountaineers will host Eastern Michigan on February 7, while the women will travel to Kent State. Both games are set for 1 p.m. tip-offs.
🔼 Movin’ On Up. Junior Tomas Brooker has been a man on a mission this season for the App State Wrestling program.
After taking down two top-25 opponents and piling up a 5-1 weekend at the Southern Scuffle last weekend, Brooker climbed to #24 nationally in both the FloWrestling and Intermat rankings.
It is the highest ranking of Brooker’s illustrious career with the Mountaineers.

Of the Mountaineers’ 49 rebounds in Thursday’s hard-fought win in Atlanta, how many of those boards came on the offensive glass?
Got a guess?
