App State football is heading down to Georgia to face the
Panthers of Georgia State. Bret and Adam preview the game and
visit with Atlanta products (and brothers) Myles and Bucci Farmer.
🔼 Georgia On My Mind. Looking to build off the thrilling home win over Oregon State, the App State Football squad is back on the road this weekend for another business trip.
This time, the Mountaineers make the 300-mile trip southwest to Atlanta to battle the Panthers of Georgia State in a Sun Belt showdown.
🔼 Running Man. You always remember your first!
Earlier this week, App State sophomore Aaron Kidd collected his first career Sun Belt Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week nod.
Kidd paced the pack at the Firetower Project Run on Oct. 3, placing first with an 8K time of 24:37.2. He was six seconds shy of his 8K personal best of 24:31.2, which he set at the 2024 Joe Piane Invitational. The Hurricane, WVa., native helped the Mountaineers to a first-place finish in the team standings with a season-low 23 points.
Between the men's and women's cross country teams, Kidd is the third Mountaineer to earn the weekly distinction this fall. Fellow sophomores Breanna Budzinski and Thomas Wlazlowski collected SBC Runner of the Week honors on Sept. 3 and Sept. 17, respectively.
🔼 Northern Exposure. One of the best kickers in Mountaineer history is headed north.
This week, the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League signed App State alum Michael Hughes.
Hughes is the Mountaineers’ all-time leader in field-goal percentage (83.3). The Charleston, WVa. native, played in 46 games from 2021 to 2024. He made 35 of 42 three-point attempts over that span while going a perfect 120-for-120 on PATs and averaged 60.7 yards per kickoff.
He made 18 field goals in a row during a stretch that spanned the 2023 and 2024 seasons. In 2023, he went 19-for-22 on field goals — with the longest kick being a 54-yard game winner — and hit all 54 PATs en route to being honored by the College Football Network as a Second-Team All-American and the FBS Special Teamer of the Year.
