🟡 And much more
App State Football earned its first Sun Belt win of the season, jumping out
to a 31-0 lead en route to a 41-20 victory at Georgia State.
Listen back to the game highlights and analysis as well as postgame interviews
with head coach Dowell Loggains, JJ Kohl and Colton Phares.
🔼 Feelin’ Peachy. A complete team effort propelled App State Football to a dominant road win in its first game this season against an opponent from the Sun Belt Conference's East Division.
The Mountaineers built a 31-0 lead and never looked back, rolling to a 41-20 victory over Georgia State. App State improved its record in the head-to-head series with the Panthers to 12-0.
JJ Kohl needed to play only three quarters in his second consecutive start, as his fourth touchdown pass gave the Mountaineers a 38-6 advantage over the Panthers in the third quarter. Scoring connections with Davion Dozier, Jaden Barnes, Dalton Stroman and Izayah Cummings contributed to a mistake-free Kohl completing 21 of his 32 passes for 309 yards.
An interception early in the second half from linebacker Colton Phares began that flurry, as the Mountaineers held Georgia State scoreless for the first 40 minutes of game action. Thomas Davis, Aiden Benton and Caleb Sandstrom recorded sacks, while Ronnie Porter made a key fourth-down stop in the first half for a defense that limited the Panthers to just 78 rushing yards.
🔼 How Sweep It Is. Playing at home for the first time this month, the App State Volleyball team protected its house.
Extending its win streak to three games, the Mountaineers rolled to a weekend sweep of Old Dominion to improve to 13-4 overall and 4-2 in league play.
A hard-fought 3-2 win over the Monarchs on Friday was followed with a dominant 3-0 sweep on Saturday, a day in which App State celebrated its annual Pink Game for breast cancer awareness.
🔼 Record Breaker. Not only did the App State Field Hockey squad grab two wins this weekend, but one Mountaineer etched her name atop the record books.
With two assists on the weekend, Lise Boekaar moved atop the career assist list in program history, now sitting with 33.
Boekaar and the Mountaineers shut out Central Michigan on Friday (4-0) and followed it up with a 3-1 win over Michigan State on Sunday, earning the program’s first victory over a Big Ten opponent.

Thomas Davis was one of three different Mountaineers to record a sack in Saturday’s victory at Georgia State, along with Aiden Benton and Caleb Sandstrom.
How many different Mountaineers have notched a sack this fall?
Got a guess?
