App State Brew 10/15: Happy Homecoming!

Mountaineers Return Home For Homecoming Showdown With Coastal Carolina

Good Morning, App State Fam. Talkin’ ball and good eats?

Sounds like the perfect Wednesday night to us!

What all do we have stirring in today’s Brew? Check it out below.

🟡 And much more

🔼 Happy Homecoming. Homecoming in the High Country is something special.

Add a critical Sun Belt showdown to the menu and it’s a recipe for quite a weekend for the Mountaineers, who are set to welcome Coastal Carolina to Boone on Saturday afternoon.

App State is looking to keep pace in the race for Sun Belt East Division as the Chanticleers descend upon The Rock for a 2:30 pm battle.

🔼 Hardware Haul. It’s been quite a start to the fall season for the App State Women’s Golf program.

After setting records several times already, the Mountaineers continued their success this week, earning a third-place finish amongst a 15-team field at the Terrier Invitational, hosted by Wofford.

Leading the way was Zoe Duval, who tied for the individual title at 2-under for the tournament.

🔼 Paving The Way. Five years in and our guy is still paving the way.

Ryan Neuzil was anchoring the offensive line of the upstart Atlanta Falcons, who took down AFC contender Buffalo on Monday night behind an offensive attack that piled up nearly 450 yards.

Nick Hampton had the best game of his young pro career with a career-high in snaps and tackles in the Rams’ 17-3 road win in Baltimore.

Akeem Davis-Gaither notched eight tackles and a pass deflection for the Arizona Cardinals in their upset bid at the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The App State alum is averaging 7.3 tackles per game and is on pace for a career year.

🔼 Going Global. One of our own is going global this December.

🔼 Mighty Max. Now, that’s how you finish a tournament!

Senior transfer Max Cranford put quite an exclamation point on his week at the Bash In The Boro, firing an 8-under 64 on Tuesday to finish fifth on the individual leaderboard.

As a team, the Mountaineers finished sixth, but Cranford’s final round is the second lowest round by score in program history.

🔼 Hat Tip. Jennifer Schroeder Tyson, Lecturer in the Departments of Kinesiology and Public Health at App State, has been named the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Faculty Member of the Year.

The annual award recognizes a faculty member from one Sun Belt institution who has a passion for teaching, engaging and inspiring students, while also separating themselves from their peers outside the classroom by regularly supporting and displaying enthusiasm for student-athletes and the athletics department.

Entering Saturday’s matchup, App State holds a 7-4 lead in the head-to-head series with Coastal Carolina.

The last win for the Mountaineers against CCU came in 2021, when which App State alum drilled a game-winning field goal as time expired?
