🔼 Comeback Kids. On a night that Coastal Carolina celebrated “90s night”, App State Football flipped the game upside down en route to a thrilling 35-32 come-from-behind victory on national TV on Friday night.
Facing a double-digit halftime deficit on the road, the Mountaineers used a dominant, all-around effort after the break to establish its own double-figure advantage before closing out the win.
Slicing through big holes created by the offensive line, Jaquari Lewis became the third App State back to score four rushing touchdowns in a game during the program's FBS era, gaining 85 yards on 13 carries as the Mountaineers rushed for 253 yards as a team. A key interception in App State territory from safety Devin Henderson helped set up the go-ahead drive that ended with Lewis' fourth score.
🔼 Crown ‘Em. While the temperatures might be cooling down outside, App State Volleyball is heating up on the court.
With the Sun Belt slate in full swing, the Mountaineers finished off a sweep of perennial league power James Madison on Friday night, sweeping the Dukes, 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-18), to improve to 7-1 in league play and sit atop the East Division standings.
Bella Hutchens led App State’s offensive attack with 15 kills, while Chelsea Gilmore posted another standout performance with eight kills on a .467 hitting percentage. Nevaeh Hays matched her career-high with eight kills of her own on a team-high .538 clip and Raegan Richardson directed the offense with 26 assists while contributing 12 digs.
🔼 Puttin’ On A Show. The App State men's and women's cross country teams put on their best performance of the year on Friday, breaking a school record while both teams ran season-best times.
Noah Martinson has been the staple of the men's team this year as he led the Mountaineers to a second-place finish in a crowded field of 38 teams. App State finished first out of all Division I schools, behind only Adams State. They earned "Power Four" victories over Texas A&M, Arizona State, Ohio State, TCU, Texas and Baylor.
Martinson snagged an 11th-place finish with a time of 23:17.4, the fastest in school history by nearly 30 seconds. He was followed closely by Thomas Wlazlowski, whose time of 23:39.2 would have also broken the school record.
On the women’s side, Josie Jackson had a career day as she was the first Mountaineer to cross the finish line in the 6K. Her time of 21:12.2 improves her personal best by nearly 30 seconds and catapults her into sixth in App State history.
🔼 And Another One. With only three games left in the conference regular season for App State Soccer, every point matters in the league standings.
That’s what made Maddie Williams’ goal even more clutch as the sophomore defender score the equalizer in the final two minutes against Arkansas State on Friday night to earn a 1-1 tie and keep the Mountaineers in a three-way tie for third place in the Sun Belt.
🔼 Doublin’ Up. What’s better than a winning weekend? How about a two-win weekend?
That’s exactly what App State Field Hockey put together as the Mountaineers rolled to a convincing 5-0 home shutout over Central Michigan on Friday and picked up a thrilling 3-2 overtime win at Kent State on Sunday.
Sophia Baxter had a monster weekend scoring four of App State’s eight goals, including her first-ever hat trick against Central Michigan on Friday. The Hook twins scored three goals on the weekend with Chloe finding the back of the cage twice on Friday and Morgan scored the game’s first goal on Sunday.

As we mentioned, sophomore Jaquari Lewis became the third App State back to score at least four rushing TDs in a single game during the program’s FBS era.
Who was the last Mountaineer to accomplish that feat?
