The App State offense got up early and the defense stepped up late in a 27-23 victory over Oregon State. Our radio crew breaks down the win, complete with highlights, analysis and postgame interviews with Dowell Loggains, Myles Farmer and JJ Kohl.

🔼 Home Defenders. Welcoming a Pac-12 opponent that crossed the continent to play in the High Country, App State built an early lead and never trailed despite being challenged by three late scoring threats from the Beavers in a 27-23 victory Saturday with a sold-out crowd of 35,021 filling Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Colton Phares, Ronnie Porter, Myles Farmer, Rondo Porter, Juan Berchal and Zyeir Gamble all made key contributions as DJ Smith's defense kept Oregon State's offense from scoring during a nailbiting end to their first-ever meeting.

Offensively, Rashod Dubinion piled up 98 yards on 19 carries, including a TD and JJ Kohl finished with 218 yards passing and a TD in his first collegiate start. Davion Dozier had a monster day, with four catches for 140 yards and a TD.

🔼 Leading The Pack. It was quite a weekend in the High Country and the success wasn’t limited to the gridiron for the Mountaineers.

Running back at home, the App State men's and women's cross country teams finished first and second, respectively in the team standings at the Firetower Project Run on Friday.

Sophomore Aaron Kidd set pace in the men's 8K, clocking a time of 24:37.2 to finish first overall. His time was six seconds shy of his personal best of 24:31.2. Five Mountaineers joined Kidd in the top 10, placing fourth through eighth.

For a second meet this fall, sophomore Breanna Budzinski was the first Mountaineer to cross the finish line in the women's race. Budzinski improved upon her 6K personal best by a second with a time of 21:50.4, placing eighth overall.

🔼 Three Of A Kind. For a third straight match, the App State Soccer squad earned a result, battling perennial league favorite JMU to a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon in Boone.

The two teams traded goal in the first 25 minutes of action, including Olivia Simon’s goal in the fourth minute for App State.

Both defenses held firm the rest of the way. Goalkeeper Hanna Skogsfors anchored the Mountaineers with four saves, including a pair in the final 10 minutes to preserve the draw.

🔼 Southern Split. The App State volleyball team delivered Louisiana's first home loss this season with a 3-1 (25-23, 26-24, 20-25, 25-22) victory on Saturday. The Mountaineers split the weekend with the Ragin' Cajuns after falling short in four sets on Friday.

Senior Ali Morris led the Mountaineers with a team-high 14 kills and 14 digs, registering her fifth double-double of the 2025 campaign (34th in her career).

The App State defensive unit held Oregon State to 98 total yards rushing.

How many times in the first five games have the Mountaineers held the opposition to under 100 yards on the ground?
