Dada-Mascoll Earns Historic Victory at NCAA Championships

🔼 History Maker. And the historic feats continue to grow for Savannah Dada-Mascoll. On Tuesday, she won in straight sets to advance to the Round of 32 at the NCAA Singles Championships.

Dada-Mascoll prevailed 6-3, 6-3 against Cal's Naomi Xu at the USTA National Campus. 

After becoming the first player to represent App State at the NCAA Singles Championships, she added to her record-breaking résumé by advancing in the bracket.

The next step is a Round of 32 match Wednesday between the fourth-seeded Dada-Mascoll and Clemson's Ria Bhakta, who earned a spot in the field by going 3-1 at her ITA Sectional earlier this month.

🔼 Capturing The Cup. Signed less than a month ago, App State Football alum Michael Hughes was a part of history this past weekend.

Joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders in late October, Hughes played in one game and was perfect in the kicking game, good for eight points in that win.

🔼 Sunday Standouts. The App State women's basketball team defeated Wofford, 77-50, to close out the Mountaineers' season-opening homestand on Sunday. The victory was punctuated by a beyond-half court heave from senior Emma Smith that beat the buzzer at the close of the third quarter.

🔼 Sunday Showouts. For years, D’Marco Jackson made big tackles for the Mountaineers. This past Sunday, he did it again, making a critical special teams stop in the Bears' 19-17 victory in Minnesota.

Through just 10 games, Jackson is just three tackles away from his career-high for a season, previously set in New Orleans.

In other #AppStateNFL performances, Akeem Davis-Gaither had four tackles for the Cardinals, Sam Martin had two of his three punts land inside the 20 for the Panthers and Ryan Neuzil played all 66 offensive snaps for the Falcons, who piled up nearly 350 yards of offense.
