What all do we have stirring in today’s Brew? Check it out below.

🏀 Here. We. Go!
🏆 Four Of A Kind
🏑 Tourney Time
🟡 And much more

🔼 Breakfast Ballin’. Rise and shine Mountaineer fans, a new season of App State Men's Basketball has arrived.

The Mountaineers begin their 2026-27 schedule — and the eighth season under the direction of head coach Dustin Kerns — at the Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon event being held today at the Rock Hill Sports and Event Center.

Tipoff is scheduled for 6 a.m. — yes, 6 a.m. — against Merrimack, a reigning Metro (formerly the MAAC) regular season champion that is bringing a unique, effective zone defense south from Massachusetts.

🔼 Four Of A Kind. The App State men's cross country team won its fourth consecutive Sun Belt Championship in dominating fashion on Friday, earning the league's first four-peat in almost 40 years.

Thomas Wlazlowski led the way and became App State's first Sun Belt individual cross country champion when he crossed the line in the second-fastest time in program history (23:33.4).

Wlazlowski moved up two spots in the final 2K to win the 8K race and pace seven Mountaineers in the top 10. Noah Martinson finished just behind him in third, with Henry Stark, Jackson Tuck and Rowan Gwin also scoring and rounding out the top seven for first-team all-conference honors.

App State's team score of 21 was the best by a Sun Belt winning team since 2002 and the best in program history, Sun Belt or Southern Conference. The Mountaineers finished a whopping 56 points ahead of second-place Arkansas State.

🔼 The Opening Act. Schedule your afternoon nap after this morning’s game because tonight, App State Women’s Basketball tips off its 2026-27 season with a road matchup against Eastern Michigan in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.

Monday's contest marks the first meeting between the two programs and begins a challenging non-conference schedule that includes matchups against Northwestern, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. Following the opener, the Mountaineers return to Boone for their home debut against Montreat College on Wednesday at the Holmes Convocation Center.

Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

🔼 Tourney Time. App State Field Hockey locked up its spot in the postseason on Friday, rolling past Longwood, 3-0, on Senior Day to clinch the No. 4 seed in this week’s MAC Tournament.

Morgan Hook, Sarah Callery and Baylie Phillips all found the back of the cage, while senior goalkeeper Dakota Anderson anchored the defense with a five-save performance to secure her sixth shutout of the 2026 season.

The Mountaineers will take on No. 5 Kent State on Wednesday morning in Oxford, Ohio, with the winner advancing to Thursday’s semifinals against top-seeded UMass. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m.

🔼 Raising The Bar. App State Soccer closed out its regular season on Sunday and did so in record-breaking fashion.

Ellie Garrison scored two goals and the Mountaineers posted their 10th shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory over Troy.

App State used a pair of first half goals in a three-minute span to create some early separation on the way to registering its 11th victory of the season, the second-most victories in program history, trailing only the 2003 team (12). The six conference wins this season match the most in the Sun Belt era.

Garrison scored one goal in each half to set the single-season program records for goals (12) and points (26).

Up next is the Sun Belt Tournament, which begins next Monday in Foley, Ala. with App State as the No. 3 seed. The Mountaineers will square off with Louisiana in the opening round.

🔼 Opening Act. Tomas Brooker's runner-up finish at the Southeast Open, highlighted by an overtime victory in a semifinal match against a top-15 opponent from Virginia Tech, led the way for App State Wrestling as it opened the 2026-27 season on Sunday.

Brooker's 4-0 run to the Open Division final at 184 pounds included two tech falls, a 3-0 quarterfinal shutout of North Carolina's Aidan Schlett and an 8-5 overtime victory against No. 15 Jaden Bullock, a 2026 ACC champion who reached the final 16 of the NCAA Championships last season.

App State had four third-place finishers in Cooper Foster (2-1 at 125 pounds), Joe Fongaro (3-1 at 133 pounds), Kaden Keiser (3-1 at 157 pounds) and Stephan Monchery (3-1 at heavyweight).

Thomas Wlazlowski is the first Mountaineer to win an individual men's cross country league title since when?
