App State Brew 11/3: Twice As Nice

Mountaineers Sweep Cross Country Titles For Second Straight Season

Good Morning, App State Fam. Hopefully the Mountaineers left room in their luggage for some hardware on the way home from the Sun Belt Championships!

What all do we have stirring in today’s Brew? Check it out below.

👟 Twice As Nice
🤼 Opening Act
🏑 Senior Salute
🟡 And much more

🔼 Twice As Nice. For the second consecutive year, the App State men's and women's cross country teams were the class of the conference, with the men polishing off a Sun Belt Championship three-peat Friday morning after the women captured their second consecutive Sun Belt title.

App State becomes the second program in Sun Belt history to sweep the men's and women's titles in back-to-back years, joining Little Rock, which accomplished the feat in 2001 and 2002.

🔼 The Wait Is Over. After months of waiting, the App State Basketball programs are FINALLY BACK!

The 2025-26 season officially kicks off Monday night with the third edition of the MAC-SBC challenge.

The men’s team travels to battle Central Michigan (7 p.m.), while the women are set to host Western Michigan at the Holmes Convocation Center tonight (6:30 p.m.)

🔼 Senior Salute. No better way to salute the seniors than with a dominant Senior Day victory over a conference opponent.

With the win, the Mountaineers solidified their spot as the No. 3-seed in the MAC Field Hockey Championship, facing Ohio in the first round of the tournament on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

Sophia Baxter, Lise Boekaar, Sarah Callery, Samantha Connors, Frederique Grimbergen, Hadley Kuzmicky, Kate Richardson and Henriette Stegen all found the back of the cage, making it six out of seven seniors to notch goals in the win.

🔼 Opening Act. App State Wrestling, helped by ranked victories and timely falls, opened the 2025-26 season by having seven team members earn top-six finishes at the Southeast Open on Sunday.

Jeremiah Price placed second in the Open Division at 157 pounds, starting 4-0 before dropping an 8-1 decision to No. 22 Charlie Millard from Minnesota in the final, while the Mountaineers picked up ranked wins from Kaden Keiser, redshirt freshman Jarvis Little and true freshman Musa Tamaradze.

True freshman Colt Campbell's runner-up finish at 174 pounds was the highlight in the Freshman/Sophomore Division. Campbell went 3-0 before losing 8-5 in overtime via a Sudden Victory takedown in the final.

Adam and Bret preview the upcoming hoops seasons, sitting down for chats with Alaura Sharp and Dustin Kerns to break down what’s ahead for the Mountaineers.

Last year, the App State Men’s Basketball team led the Sun Belt for the fourth straight season in scoring defense, allowing just 63.5 points per game.

Where did they rank nationally in that category?

Got a guess?
