🔼 One Week Away. Sure, Santa may be arriving in a few days, but let’s be honest, we’ll all look forward to next Monday and the JLab Birmingham Bowl.
App State Football will be making its ninth bowl appearance in 11 postseason-eligible seasons at the FBS level. It earned bowl berths in eight of its first nine seasons after becoming postseason-eligible in 2015, including an NCAA-record seven berths in the first seven seasons.
The Mountaineers will square off with Sun Belt rival Georgia Southern, next Monday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN.
🔼 Leading The Way. With just two weeks left in the NFL regular season, #AppStateNFL is right in the middle of the playoff push.
Currently, five Mountaineers are on the rosters of division-leading teams: Chicago Bears linebacker D’Marco Jackson, Carolina Panthers punter Sam Martin, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles (practice squad), Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Cooper Hodges (reserve/PUP list) and Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Jalen McLeod (reserve/injured list).
🔼 Breaking Out. Not only is #AppStateNFL in the playoff race, but it’s also enjoying some breakout seasons.
In his fifth NFL season, Akeem Davis-Gaither is having a career year with the Arizona Cardinals, posting a second straight double-digit tackle performance and now sits at a career-best 96 tackles, three TFLs and four pass deflections.
Prior to this season, he had had five double-digit tackle performances in 71 career games. Yesterday was his fourth this year in just 14 games with Arizona.
Alonzo Dodd continued his tear with a 19-point performance against Georgia State on Saturday afternoon.
