🥎 Drive To Five
⛳️ Going Low
🏈 Not Going Anywhere
🟡 And much more

🔼 Drive To Five. Now that’s how you start your first midweek game of the season!

The red-hot App State Softball squad exploded for nine runs in the first inning, which helped shoot it to a 12-2 victory over College of Charleston in five innings on Tuesday.

It is the fifth victory in a row for the Mountaineers, with each of them coming via run rule. App State has scored 59 runs over that stretch.

Macy Hamby and Grace Barrett combined to go 7-7 with four RBIs for the Mountaineers in the second and third holes of the lineup, with Hamby producing a four-hit game. As a team, the Mountaineers swatted 11 hits, their fifth straight contest with at least 10 hits.

Camryn Fisher continued to shine in the circle for App State, allowing just two hits in four innings of work. The freshman picked up her team-leading 10th win of the season, while striking out two Cougars in the process.

🔼 Going Low. The App State Women’s Golf team posted yet another strong showing this week, claiming a second-place finish in a 15-team field at the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head.

Ona Lukes tied for fourth place as one of three Mountaineers to post a top-15 result, carding an 8-over total (77-73-74—224) on the par-72 layout. Zoe Duval finished 14th at 12 over (77-77-74—228), and Alisa Pressley tied for 15th at 14 over (82-73-75—230).

It is the second top-two finish in four starts this spring for the Mountaineers.

🔼 Touting Taylor. Freshman Taylor Schafer of the App State Softball program is making quite a first impression in her debut season in Boone.

After tallying a four-homer, 14-RBI weekend in App State’s sweep of the Mountaineer Classic, Schafer was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week.

Schafer's standout performance included two grand slams, one against Furman on Friday and the other against Queens on Sunday. She became the second Mountaineer this season to hit multiple grand slams, and gives App State five grand slams on the season.

🔼 Not Going Anywhere. Coming off the best season of his three-year NFL career, #AppState NFL standout D’Marco Jackson isn’t going anywhere.

On Monday, Jackson signed a two-year deal to remain with the Chicago Bears.

The App State alum piled up career-highs in every statistical category with 48 tackles, his first career sack, his first career interception and three pass deflections.

🔼 On The Charts. Off to one of the best starts in program history, the App State softball program continues to find itself among the nation’s best mid-major programs.

Coming off a 4-0 weekend, the Mountaineers sit at #13 in the Softball America Mid-Major Poll and #23 in the D1Softball Mid-Major America Poll.

With eight HRs through the first 23 games of this season, where does Taylor Schafer rank nationally among freshman in that category?

Got a guess?
