🔼 Tourney Time. The App State Basketball squads wrapped up the regular season on Friday and now, it’s Tourney Time.
This week, the Mountaineers head south to Pensacola to take on the Sun Belt Tournament gauntlet.
On the women’s side, App State is the 13th seed and opens play tomorrow against 12th-seeded South Alabama. The winner moves on to take on ninth-seeded Coastal Carolina on Wednesday.
The men’s team was one of six teams that finished at 11-7 in league play, one game behind regular season champion Troy. Earning the fourth seed in the tournament, the Mountaineers earn a bye into the quarterfinals, slated for Saturday at 6:30 pm EST.
🔼 Toe-To-Toe. Playing three of its five games this weekend against two top-20 teams, including two against #1 Tennessee, the App State Softball squad went toe-to-toe with the nation’s best and nearly came away with several ranked wins.
The Mountaineers blasted six HRs and pounded out 30 runs in the five games in Knoxville, which included two more wins, both coming over in-state foe NC Central.
App State now sits at 13-5 and is set for its first home appearance of the year with the annual Mountaineer Classic on the docket this upcoming weekend.
🔼 Mountaineers’ Eleven. Move over Danny Ocean and crew, the Mountaineers are bringing home their own treasure.
Eleven members of the App State Track & Field program were honored this weekend with All-SBC accolades for their performances at this year’s Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Leading the way was senior Ava Studney, who became the Mountaineers’ first Sun Belt women’s indoor pole vault champion since joining the league in 2014.
🔼 Mastering The Mavs. The App State Tennis team headed home from its trip to Texas on a winning nod, taking town UT-Arlington, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.
Ruby Broadbent clinched the victory for the Mountaineers (4-6) at the No. 4 spot, rallying to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 after dropping the opening set. The win provided a breakthrough for an App State squad that had seen three out of its last four matches decided by a single set with the score tied at 3-3.

The App State men’s basketball team wrapped up its regular season as the Sun Belt’s leader in scoring defense.
