🟡 And much more
🔼 Three Of A Kind. Before heading to Pensacola for the Sun Belt Tournament, the App State men’s basketball team is already garnering praise.
This week, a trio of Mountaineers were recognized among the yearly Sun Belt honors.
Luke Wilson was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year, while Kasen Jennings and Alonzo Dodd earned second-team and third-team All-Sun Belt accolades, respectively.
Wilson is the second App State Men's Basketball player in the last three seasons to be named the league's Defensive Player of the Year, joining Justin Abson (2024). App State's two All-Sun Belt players were tied for the most in the league, marking the third straight season the Mountaineers have had at least a pair of players named to an all-conference squad.
Fourth-seeded App State will open tournament play Saturday in a quarterfinal at 6:30 p.m. ET in Pensacola, Fla. The Mountaineers will play against the winner of a Friday game that involves No. 5 seed Texas State facing either No. 8 seed Southern Miss, No. 9 seed James Madison or No. 12 seed Louisiana.
🔼 Signed, Sealed, Delivered. Now that’s how you celebrate a new deal!
On Monday, App State alum CJ Huntley earned an official two-way contract from the Phoenix Suns.
Just a few hours later, he showed exactly why the Suns gave him the deal with a 32-point, 14-rebound performance against the Salt Lake City Stars. On the season, Huntley is averaging 14.8 points and 8.4 rebound per night.
🔼 Four By Four. For the second straight week, Zoe Duval earned a top-five finish to help lead the App State Women’s Golf squad.
Duval, who finished fourth overall, helped the Mountaineers earn a fourth-place finish at the River Landing Classic in Wallace, N.C. She has two victories, one runner-up finish and a fourth-place finish in her last six starts, dating back to early in the fall season.
On the men’s side, senior Ben Read posted the best finish of his App State career, tying for fourth to lead the Mountaineers at the Sam Ryder Intercollegiate in Daytona Beach.

In a jam-packed final edition of Mountaineer Talk, we visit with App State wrestling head coach JohnMark Bentley and Anthony Conetta ahead of the SoCon Championships this weekend.
Then we get to know App State Basketball associate head coaches Tanner Smith and Bob Szorc as well as strength coach Connor Agnew. And Dustin Kerns helps preview the week ahead at the Sun Belt Tournament.

This week, Kasen Jennings and Alonzo Dodd both earned All-Sun Belt accolades.
In his seven seasons as the head coach of the Mountaineers, how many all-conference players has Dustin Kerns coached?
Got a guess?
