App State Brew 4/1: Midweek Mashing
Mountaineers Bring Out Bats, Pound Their Way Past UNC Asheville

🔼 Midweek Mashing. App State Baseball scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings, capped by an eighth-run fourth, en route to a 17-7 victory over UNC Asheville in eight innings on Tuesday at Smith Stadium.
Even an hour-long rain delay, which interrupted a four-run second inning, couldn't cool down the App State offense, as the Mountaineers tallied seven doubles (including each their first six hits) and drew nine walks. The Mountaineers tallied season-highs in both hits and runs.
🔼 Setting The Tone. Over the weekend, App State Football hit the field for the first scrimmage of the spring season.
The Mountaineers are grinding their way towards Saturday, April 18th for the annual Battle at the Rock spring game.
🔼 Sweet 16. Senior tennis standout Savannah Dada-Mascoll kept rolling through the spring season this past weekend with two more individual victories.
Her straight set victory on Sunday against East Carolina extended her win streak to 16, while also helping the Mountaineers grab a 4-2 road victory over the Pirates.
Sunday’s win by Dada-Mascoll matches her career long streak set in 2024 and marks 18 consecutive sets won for the Yorkshire, England native.
🔼 What A Finish. Fighting for a team title in a back-and-forth final round, App State Women's Golf finished as the Mimosa Hills Invitational runner-up, placing second in a 12-team field as Charlotte used late heroics to edge the Mountaineers by a single stroke.
Attempting to win its first team tournament title since 2019, an on-the-rise App State team posted its third runner-up finish in five spring events leading up to next week's Ironwood Invitational in Greenville and the April 20 start of the Sun Belt Championship tournament.
🔼 Back To Work. App State alum Kaleb Bowman is back to work for his fourth season of minor league baseball.
Bowman debuted for the first time in 2026 on Sunday for the Nashville Sounds at the Triple-A level with a scoreless inning, striking out two along the way.
In Tuesday’s slugfest win over UNC Asheville, the App State Baseball squad pounded out a season-high seven doubles. It was the highest single-game total since March of last year when the Mountaineers had eight against College of Charleston.
