App State Brew 6/17: Preseason Praise

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of App State Football this fall. The Mountaineers will
host Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

80 Days Away. The date: October 1, 2022. The opponent: The Citadel

With less than four minutes remaining in the third quarter, App State QB Chase Brice dropped back and connected with Christan Horn for an 80-yard score to put the Mountaineers up 42-0 en route to a convincing and dominant 49-0 victory over the Bulldogs.

The 80-yard connection is one of just three pass plays of 80+ yards in the past five seasons and is one of 17 times in program history that the Mountaineers have recorded an 80+ yard passing TD.

🔼 Preseason Praise. The excitement leading up to App State football is palpable and the Mountaineers can’t wait to get back on the field.

This week, 10 players earned praise being named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team by Phil Steele.

Leading the group was rising junior linebacker Colton Phares, who had a breakout season last fall for the Mountaineers.

🔼 Back On The Bump. Less than a month ago, Jordan Fisher was stepping onto the mound for the App State Baseball program.

Now, he’s on the mound professionally.

Last week, Fisher signed on to join the Gastonia Ghost Peppers, an independent league team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

During his career at App State, the righthander piled up 50 appearances and racked up nine career saves for the Mountaineers, including four this past spring.
