App State Brew 7/1: Be Kind And Rewind

Looking Back At The 2025-26 Season For The Mountaineers

Good morning, App State Fam. It’s been quite a year for the Mountaineers.

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of App State Football this fall. The Mountaineers will
host Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

66 Days Away. There have been thousands of student-athletes that have put on the App State Football uniform.

Only four of them have played 6️⃣6️⃣ games, the current program record.

Nick Ross was the last Mountaineer to reach that number as the safety played in 6️⃣6️⃣ games from 2019-23.

The other three App State alums tied at 6️⃣6️⃣ games played all were a part of the program from 2017-21: Thomas Hennigan (WR), Caleb Spurlin (DE) and Xavier Subotsch (P).

🔼 Punching His Ticket. Incoming Mountaineer Matthew McDougall is doing plenty of work on the golf course this summer.

Thanks to a 4-under 67 on Saturday during qualifying, McDougall punched his ticket to this week’s North & South Men’s Amateur at Pinehurst.

Stroke play wraps up today on Pinehurst No. 2.

🔼 Leading The Circle. The Mountaineers added a new piece to the dugout for next spring as App State Softball head coach Whitney Jones announced the addition of Jessica Dreswick to the coaching staff.

Dreswick arrives in Boone after three seasons at Tulsa, where she oversaw the development of the Golden Hurricane pitching staff and contributed to player development and recruiting efforts.

She made an immediate impact at Tulsa in 2024, helping the Golden Hurricane lower their ERA from 6.02 to 4.31 while limiting opponents to a .235 batting average, the program's lowest full-season mark since 2017.
