Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of App State Football this fall. The Mountaineers will
host Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

5️⃣2️⃣ Days Away. Last season was a bit breakout campaign for rising fourth year Cayden Sweatt.

After earning his first collegiate start against Lindenwood in the second game of the 2025 season, Sweatt never looked back, earning the start in the next 12 games at right guard for the Mountaineers.

The Bremen, Ga., native is back for his fourth season in Boone and will look to earn playing time again up front for App State this fall.

🔼 On The Mic. Football season is officially getting closer when its time for Sun Belt Football Media Days.

The two-day event kicks off today in New Orleans with the Mountaineers taking the stage at 3 p.m. this afternoon. Head Coach Dowell Loggains, junior linebacker Colton Phares and junior QB Malachi Singleton will be on hand to represent App State.

The multicast will feature two separate feeds—the traditional Sun Belt Football Media Days Show, which will incorporate portions of the Main Stage and Sun Belt Studio appearances from each team alongside analysis from hosts Matt Stewart and Rocky Boiman, and the Sun Belt Football Media Days Podium Feed, which will showcase the Main Stage appearances from each team in their entirety.

🔼 Preseason Praise. Before media days got underway, a trio of App State Football returners received Preseason All-Sun Belt recognition from the league.

Aiden Benton, Colton Phares and Tyriq Poindexter all earned preseason accolades.

Phares (linebacker) and Benton (defensive lineman) were voted to the first-team defense, while Poindexter (offensive lineman) was voted to the second-team offense. The two defenders are both fourth-year players within the five-year eligibility window, and Poindexter is entering his final season of eligibility.
