🟡 And much more

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of App State Football this fall. The Mountaineers will
host Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

5️⃣9️⃣ Days Away. Lining up behind center for three years as the Mountaineers’ starter, Richie Williams was a co-captain for App State’s first Division I-AA National Championship.

Williams finished his college career as the Mountaineers' all-time total offense leader with 9,370 yards. That total is still third all-time in the Southern Conference. He rewrote the passing records at App State by graduating with records in career passing yards (7,759), most passing yards in a single game (517), and with 3,745 yards passing his senior season.

During his Hall of Fame career, Williams tossed 5️⃣9️⃣ TDs, which currently sits as the fourth-highest total in program history.

🔼 Reaching New Heights. While the Mountaineers prepared for the upcoming 2026-27 season, the App State men’s hoops team hit the trails and took on Grandfather Mountain.

🔼 The Halfway Point. Tonight, App State’s Jeffrey Springs takes the hill for his 19th start of the 2026 season for the Athletics.

With the All-Star break just days away, Springs is hitting the halfway point of his ninth MLB season.

Springs is just 6.2 innings away from reaching 100+ innings for the third time in his career and first time in back-to-back seasons. He is also just 20 strikeouts away from reaching 100+ Ks in back-to-back years.

For his career, the southpaw is 37-31 with a 3.99 ERA.

🔼 Just Getting Started. One year down, plenty more to come.

It was quite a debut season for App State’s own CJ Huntley. The two-way player appeared in 42 games for the G-League’s Valley Suns and four for the Phoenix Suns.

At the G-League level, Huntley averaged 16.0 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game, while recording 13 double-doubles.

In the national semifinal win over Furman, Richie Williams set a program record for consecutive passes completed.

How many straight passes did Williams complete?

Got a guess?
