In the latest episode of the Nothin’ But An App State Podcast, we chat with Miller Yoho from the Charlotte Sports Foundation and the Duke’s Mayo Classic to chat about the season opener experience for App State Football on August 29 in Bank of America Stadium.

🔼 Setting The Slate. The season may still be a few months away, but you can start blocking dates off now as the App State hoops programs unveiled dates for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

For the App State men, the Sun Belt rolled out the full conference schedule last week as the Mountaineers continue to put the finishing touches on their full 2025-26 slate.

🔼 Eyes On Us. With the season opener just days away, App State soccer star Ellie Garrison has eyes on her.

Late last week, Garrison was named to the United Soccer Coaches Association’s Midfielders to Watch List for the upcoming 2025 campaign.

A second team All-Sun Belt selection as a true freshman in 2024, Garrison enters her sophomore season poised for another breakout campaign. The Trinity, N.C. native played and started all 19 games in her first season in Boone, registering four goals and five assists. Her combined 13 points were the most by an App State freshman in the Sun Belt era.

Garrison was named an All-Southeast Region selection following the season and was ranked as the 49th-best freshman in the country by Top Drawer Soccer.

🔼 Class Acts. These Mountaineers got it done on the diamond and in the classroom.

Over the weekend, App State Softball saw eight players named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athletes for the 2025 season. 
 
Ava Beamesderfer, Grace Barrett, Julia Girk, Leah Gore, Marti Henkel, Ambry Lucas, Sophie Moshos and Bel Varadi each were honored as All-America scholar athletes.
 
In addition to the eight players from the 2025 roster garnering the honor, Florida Atlantic transfer Emilie Ching was also named a Division I All-America Scholar Athlete.

App State has seen at least eight players receive NFCA academic honors each of the past four years.

🔼 Finding Pay Dirt. Five years later and Darrynton Evans is still doing his thing.

The former App State standout is battling for a spot with the Buffalo Bills for the upcoming 2025 season and this past weekend helped his case as he was on the receiving end of this TD in the Bills’ preseason game against the New York Giants.

1️⃣8️⃣ days from kickoff…

Armanti Edwards wasn’t just one of the most electric players in App State history, he’s one of the most electric players in college football history.

During his incredible Mountaineer career, Edwards piled up 1️⃣8️⃣ 100-yard rushing performances, which ranks him fifth all-time in program history in that category.

His single-game high game against Richmond in 2007, when he piled up 313 against the Spiders.

On the ground alone, Edwards racked up 4,361 yards and 65 TDs.
