🔼 Let The Games Begin. A little blend of old with the new will be on display tomorrow night when the App State soccer squad kicks off the 2025-26 athletic calendar with a road showdown at former Southern Conference rival Western Carolina.

In the fourth year of the Aimee Haywood era, the Mountaineers have 10 newcomers entering the mix with 17 returners from last year’s squad, which qualified for the Sun Belt tournament for the third straight season.

Returners Izzi Wood and Ellie Garrison, who were the top two scorers on last year's team, lead the way and were both named all-conference and all-region last season.

Kickoff in Cullowhee is set for 6 p.m. tomorrow night.

🔼 What’s In A Number. NBA training camps aren’t scheduled to start for about six weeks, but former App State standout CJ Huntley received his number from the Phoenix Suns this week as it was announced he’ll be wearing #2️⃣2️⃣ when training camp opens in late September.

1️⃣6️⃣ days from kickoff…

201️⃣6️⃣ marked the first of many.

After spending 40+ seasons as a member of the SoCon, the App State football program arrived in the Sun Belt in 2014 and two years later, the Mountaineers captured their first FBS conference title.

That began a stretch of four consecutive conference championships from 201️⃣6️⃣ through 2019.

During that 201️⃣6️⃣ season, the Mountaineers rolled to a 10-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in league play.
