App State Wins 1-0 Thriller Over Miami In Home Opener

Good Morning, Fellow Mountaineers. Is there any better way to spend the weekend than reuniting with the App State fam?
We think not! Great times were had once again at this year’s FanFest!

🟡 And much more!

🔼 Rocked ‘Em Like A Hurricane. It was a historic afternoon in Boone on Sunday as the App State soccer program recorded its first-ever victory over an ACC foe, earning a signature 1-0 win over visiting Miami.
Late in a scoreless battle, Walker Bristow set up a sprinting Ellie Garrison, who was taken down by a Miami defender inside the box in the 79th minute to set up a penalty kick. Garrison fired it home and the Mountaineers defense did the rest, holding on for their first shutout of the season.
A 𝓼𝓲𝓰𝓷𝓪𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓮 victory!

🔼 Always Remember Your First. Former App State standout Ahmani Marshall found the end zone for the first time in his professional career this weekend in the Cleveland Browns’ preseason victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Marshall scampered in from four yards out early in the first quarter for the Browns. In his two preseason games, Marshall has 14 carries for 57 yards.

🔼 Ladies Weekend. What a special weekend it was for the women of App State’s past, present and future. The Women In Motion weekend, which launched in 2022, is an annual event that celebrates the incredible Mountaineer women who paved the way for current and future student-athletes.
On Friday night, the weekend opened with Connecting Champions, which brought Mountaineer champions from the past with current App State leaders and student-athletes to talk about their experiences, not only in sport, but life.

1️⃣1️⃣ days from kickoff…

Only one receiver in App State Football history has multiple seasons of 75+ catches.
That man wore #1️⃣1️⃣ from 2010-2013 and dominated the opposition on the outside, hauling in 208 catches in his four seasons, the second most in program history. He also tallied four games in his career with 1️⃣1️⃣ or more catches, marking an achievement only one other wideout in program history has done.
Andrew Peacock finished his illustrious App State career with 2,108 yards and 10 TDs for the Mountaineers as he became one of the most reliable pass catchers in program history.

Sunday’s victory over Miami marked the first win over a Power Five school since 2016 for App State Soccer.
