Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of App State Football this fall. The Mountaineers will
host Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

1️⃣5️⃣ Days Away. We are just over two weeks away from the return of Mountaineer football.
This year’s App State Football roster has plenty of new faces, 74 to be exact, and all of them are looking to make an impact in their first season in Boone.
One of those new faces battling for playing time is #1️⃣5️⃣ Alex Mitchell, a veteran linebacker who spent previous seasons at Middle Tennessee and Chattanooga.
Playing in only four games last season at MTSU, Mitchell took his redshirt season, but still made an impact, racking up 28 tackles in just four games, including a 16-tackle game against Jacksonville State in late October.
He was most impressive during his time at Chattanooga, piling up 194 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, five forced fumbles and three interceptions in 34 games for the Mocs.
🔼 Lasting Legacy. Of the hundreds of student-athletes that put on an App State Football uniform over the years, only six have earned a decade-plus NFL career.
One of those six announced his retirement this week as Kendall Lamm officially hung up his cleats after 11 years in the league.
Lamm played with four teams throughout his career, Houston, Cleveland, Tennessee and Miami, while also spending time with Philadelphia and Baltimore. He appeared in 132 games on the offensive line, earning 44 starts.
🔼 Partnering Up. App State Athletics and Foscoe Companies have announced a multi-year jersey patch sponsorship, enhancing the longstanding partnership between the two brands.
Through the agreement, a Foscoe Companies jersey patch will be worn on the uniforms of all men's and women's basketball student-athletes for the next three seasons.
🔼 All Tied Up. App State Soccer dominated possession and generated numerous chances offensively, but ultimately could not find the back of the net in a scoreless draw with Western Carolina on Thursday night.
App State won the battle on the scoresheet, outshooting Western Carolina, 11-3 for the match. The Catamounts did not record their first shot until the 75th minute of play.
🔼 One Week Away. A week from today, App State Volleyball will hit the court for the first time in 2026 when it travels two hours southeast to compete in the Charlotte Invitational.
The Mountaineers are set to take on North Carolina A&T, Bryant and the host, Charlotte, in a three-game weekend round robin.
After nearly 40 years in college basketball, former App State head men's basketball coach Houston Fancher recently announced his retirement from his latest job at NC State.
Bret, Adam, and a very special guest host talk to Coach Fancher as he unspools several stories from his years in Boone.

During his All-Conference career at App State, how many games did Kendall Lamm start for the Mountaineers?
