🟡 And much more

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of App State Football this fall. The Mountaineers will
host Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

1️⃣2️⃣ Days Away. The clock is ticking down. We are just 12 days away from kickoff!

One of the most successful players in App State history, #1️⃣2️⃣ Zac Thomas was a foundational piece for the Mountaineers, leading the way to a 32-6 record as a starting QB during his time in Boone.

He has the third-most wins in App State history and has thrown the third-most career TD passes in program history (69). He also sits in the top-five all-time in passing yards (6,979 yards), TD responsibility (88), and total offense (8,281 yards).

During his five years in Boone, Thomas and the Mountaineers piled up a 52-13 record with five bowl wins and four Sun Belt Conference Championships.

🔼 Making The List. With less than two weeks remaining until kickoff, the Mountaineers are filling up preseason watch lists.

Late last week, four App State standouts earned recognition on national watch lists.

The trio of Kanye Roberts (RB), Ja’Den McBurrows (DB) and Ja’Quez Cross (RB) were all named to the 2026 Comeback Player of the Year Preseason Watch List, while defensive star Colton Phares earned a spot on the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List, given to the nation’s best linebacker.

🔼 Lovin’ Lucy. App State Soccer gained control of the match early and never took its foot off the accelerator, generating a record number of scoring opportunities in a 2-0 victory over Gardner-Webb on Sunday.

The Mountaineers registered 28 shots in the match, the most for the program since a 29-shot effort against Gardner-Webb in 2016.

Leading the way was sophomore Lucy Harrington, who scored a goal and dished out an assist for a career-high three points.

🔼 Pond Hoppin’. One of our own is heading across the pond.

Late last week, App State Men’s Basketball alum Kasen Jennings signed a professional contract with the Bristol Flyers of the Super League in England.

In his one season with the Mountaineers, Jennings earned All-Sun Belt honors after averaging a team-leading 15.2 points per game, while also grabbing 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per night.

🔼 Class Acts. App State Athletics had 194 student-athletes honored as the Sun Belt Conference recognized recipients of the 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award as well as members of the Commissioner's List and Academic Honor Roll for the 2025-26 academic year.

App State Women's Cross Country led the Sun Belt's 13 programs in that sport with a 3.76 GPA and did so while repeating as the league champion at the conference meet in late October.

After nearly 40 years in college basketball, former App State head men's basketball coach Houston Fancher recently announced his retirement from his latest job at NC State.

Bret, Adam, and a very special guest host talk to Coach Fancher as he unspools several stories from his years in Boone.

How many 3-pointers did Kasen Jennings knock down last season for the Mountaineers?

Got a guess?
