Good morning, App State Fam. If this doesn’t get your motor going early in the morning, we’re not sure what will!

Love seeing our student-athletes at work!

What all do we have stirring in today’s Brew? Check it out below.

🏈 10 Days Away
🎉 Join The Party
⛳️ Opening Act
🟡 And much more

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of App State Football this fall. The Mountaineers will
host Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

1️⃣0️⃣ Days Away. The clock is ticking down. We are just 10 days away from kickoff!

One of the leaders of this year’s squad will be wearing #1️⃣0️⃣ again this fall in veteran linebacker Colton Phares.

A preseason First-Team All-Sun Belt selection this summer, Phares is coming off a 2025 season in which he led the Mountaineers with 101 tackles, along with 9.5 TFLs, and a team-leading three INTs.

He was one of just three players nationally with at least 100 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss and three interceptions (joined by Texas Tech’s Jacob Rodriguez and Central Michigan’s Jordan Kwiatkowski).

🔼 Getting Defensive. After leading a stifling defensive effort last week, App State Soccer sophomore Lucy Harrington was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Harrington has played all 90 minutes in each of the Mountaineers' four matches this season, leading the team to back-to-back shutouts and a 1-0-1 week.

Despite her position as a center back, Harrington leads the team with two assists and is tied for the team lead with four points on the campaign.

🔼 Join The Party. App State is introducing Yosef's Yard Party – a new pregame fan zone near Kidd Brewer Stadium – for Saturday home football games this fall.

Fans can enjoy a family-friendly, tailgating-style experience in the residence hall lawn a short walk from the stadium across Jack Branch Drive. Admission is free. Food, water and Pepsi products will be available for purchase. Full details can be found in the list below.

🔼 Opening Act. A trio of top-10 finishes, highlighted by Alisa Pressley sharing runner-up honors, contributed to App State Women's Golf placing third as it opened the fall schedule on Monday at the inaugural Truist Access, Opportunity & Development (AOD) Summit.

Only finishing behind two teams ranked in the top-90 nationally, App State posted a 37-over total of 305-308—613.

The 36-hole competition Monday at Quail Hollow Club followed Sunday activities that included exposure to industry leaders, career development opportunities and meaningful networking experiences.

🔼 O Captain, My Captain. In just two days, App State Field Hockey will officially hit the field for the first time since last fall, when the Mountaineers earned the program’s first-ever national ranking.

This year, App State will be led by three captains, who were announced this week. Kassie Paul, Sophia Baxter and Calista Schwartz were all chosen to lead the squad.

The field hockey squad isn’t the only team opening up its fall slate this weekend as App State Volleyball is set to hit the court on Friday as well.

How many newcomers are on this year’s roster?

Got a guess?
