Good morning, App State Fam. No words needed.

What all do we have stirring in today’s Brew? Check it out below.

🏈 Game Week Has Arrived
⚽️ Feelin’ 100
🏑 Grand Opening
🟡 And much more

Throughout the summer, we have been counting down the days
to the return of App State Football. The Mountaineers are just days
awaiting from hosting Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

5️⃣ Days Away. It’s almost time. We are just five days away from kickoff!

Thomas Hennigan put together one of the most productive receiving careers in App State Football history, becoming a fixture in the Mountaineers’ offense from the moment he arrived in Boone. A starter as a true freshman in 2017, Hennigan finished his five-year career as the program’s all-time leader with 242 receptions, while ranking second with 3,124 receiving yards and fourth with 23 touchdown catches.

He earned All-Sun Belt recognition in four of his five seasons and helped App State compile a 52-14 record, win three Sun Belt championships and capture four bowl victories.

🔼 Game Week Has Arrived. A new season kicks off at The Rock on Saturday as App State welcomes Maine to Kidd Brewer Stadium for a 3:30 p.m. season opener.

The Mountaineers begin year two under head coach Dowell Loggains with a revamped roster featuring 73 newcomers and a signing class rated as the best in both App State and Sun Belt history.

App State will look to start the new campaign on the right foot in front of another packed crowd in Boone with Saturday’s game being a Gold Out at Kidd Brewer.

🔼 Talkin’ Ball. Presented by UNC Health Blue Ridge, App State's weekly Mountaineer Talk radio show will make its 2026-27 return Sept. 1, in advance of the Sept. 5 football opener against Maine at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

For the fourth consecutive season, the show will be hosted live at Rivers Street Ale House in Boone.

New this fall, Mountaineer Talk shows will air on Tuesday nights from 7-8 p.m. Host Adam Witten will be joined weekly by head coach Dowell Loggains and App State football student-athletes on App State Sports Network radio affiliates.

🔼 Feelin’ 100. No better way to get win number 100 than with a little drama, right?

That’s exactly what App State Soccer did on Sunday, scoring twice in the final six minutes of the game to secure a thrilling 2-1 come-from-behind victory over William & Mary. The win marked the 100th career victory for head coach Aimee Haywood, who received an ice bath from the team after the contest.

Trailing 1-0, senior Olivia Simon leveled the score with less than six minutes to play, and two minutes later Libby Bermingham put away the game-winning penalty kick to lift App State to the dramatic victory.

🔼 Grand Opening. The drama wasn’t just limited to the soccer pitch for the Mountaineers. App State Field Hockey opened the 2026 season in dramatic fashion as well, earning back-to-back overtime victories at home.

On Friday, the Mountaineers battled Towson through four scoreless quarters before Sarah Callery delivered the game-winner in overtime off an assist from Kassie Paul for a 1-0 victory.

The drama continued Sunday against Georgetown. Trailing 1-0 in the final minute, Baylie Phillips scored with just 20 seconds remaining to force overtime. Then, with less than a minute left in the extra period, Chloe Hook scored the first goal of her collegiate career to give App State a thrilling 2-1 win.

🔼 Picking Up A Pair. App State Volleyball opened the season with a pair of wins at this past weekend’s Charlotte Invitational.

After a tough five-set loss on Friday, the Mountaineers bounced back with a gritty five-set win over the host, Charlotte, on Saturday, followed by a 3-0 sweep of Bryant on Sunday.

Brooke Doherty led the way with 33 kills, while Raegan Richardson dished out 83 assists and MeMe Davis racked up 49 digs.

Saturday kicks off the 97th season of App State Football. Who was the Mountaineers’ first ever victory against way back in 1928?
