Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of App State Football this fall. The Mountaineers will
host Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

3️⃣1️⃣ Days Away. The countdown has reached 31 days, and it’s the perfect time to remember App State's 31-29 thriller over Ohio in the 2015 Camellia Bowl.

Making its FBS postseason debut, App State trailed 24-7 entering the fourth quarter before storming back and winning on Zach Matics' 23-yard field goal as time expired. The victory made the Mountaineers the first 11-win team in Sun Belt Conference history, and fittingly, quarterback Taylor Lamb's two touchdown passes that night gave him 31 for the season, breaking the school record.

🔼 Power Play. App State Women's Basketball is set to test itself against a power conference foe. The Mountaineers and Virginia Tech have agreed to a three-game series over the next three seasons, beginning with a Dec. 9 trip to Blacksburg this year. The Hokies visit the Holmes Center in 2027-28, marking App State's first home game against a power conference opponent since hosting Georgia Tech to open the 2017-18 season.

➡️ This week, App State Women's Basketball head coach Alaura Sharp announced the addition of seven newcomers to the Mountaineers' roster.

🔼 A National Voice. App State Director of Athletics Doug Gillin is headed to the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. The CFP Management Committee appointed Gillin to the group responsible for ranking the top 25 teams each week leading up to the final playoff selections.

Entering his 12th year in Boone, Gillin has overseen App State's rise to national prominence, highlighted by multiple conference championships. He was named one of four national Under Armour Athletics Directors of the Year in 2019-20.

🔼 Scholars of the Green. App State Men's Golf is shining in the classroom! Rob Bergevin, Cole Bergheim, Max Cranford, and Herman Huus were named 2025-26 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division I by the GCAA.

The honor requires participating in at least half of the team's competitive rounds, posting a stroke average under 76.0, and maintaining a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA.

🔼 Get Geared Up. In conjunction with this month’s FanFest, App State Athletics will host a Surplus Sale on August 15 inside Kidd Brewer Stadium.

The sale will run from 4-5:30 p.m., or while supplies last, and will be located on the West Concourse of Kidd Brewer Stadium. Items on sale will include team-issued uniforms and equipment across all varsity App State sports, Nike apparel, fan gear, special memorabilia and more. Transactions will be by credit card only (American Express will not be taken). Shoe purchases will be limited to five pairs per customer.
