App State Brew 8/7: The Slate Is Set

Good morning, App State Fam. App State Men's Basketball's 2026-27 Sun Belt schedule is in! The slate features nine home games at the Holmes Convocation Center. Head coach Dustin Kerns owns a league-best 76-49 conference record over seven seasons, including a 2023-24 regular-season title and a 2020-21 tournament championship.

The Mountaineers open league play Dec. 19 at Louisiana Tech before their New Year's Eve home opener against Troy. App State enters the season having won double-digit conference games in three straight years for the first time since 1997-2000.

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of App State Football this fall. The Mountaineers will
host Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

2️⃣9️⃣ Days Away. The countdown has reached 29 days, and 29 marks the number of 100-yard rushing games Marcus Cox piled up from 2013-16, the most in App State history! Cox remains the program's all-time leading rusher (5,103 yards) and the first Mountaineer with four straight 1,000-yard seasons.

🔼 Slate Set. App State Women's Basketball unveiled its 2026-27 schedule, featuring 15 home games at the Holmes Convocation Center and three Power 4 road opponents in nonconference play. Head coach Alaura Sharp's Mountaineers open Nov. 2 at Eastern Michigan in the MAC-SBC Challenge before their home opener against Montreat College on Nov. 4.

The nonconference slate includes road trips to Northwestern, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech, while Sun Belt play begins Dec. 16 at Marshall. The Sun Belt Championship runs March 2-8 in Pensacola, Fla.

🔼 Get Geared Up. In conjunction with this month’s FanFest, App State Athletics will host a Surplus Sale on August 15 inside Kidd Brewer Stadium.

The sale will run from 4-5:30 p.m., or while supplies last, and will be located on the West Concourse of Kidd Brewer Stadium. Items on sale will include team-issued uniforms and equipment across all varsity App State sports, Nike apparel, fan gear, special memorabilia and more. Transactions will be by credit card only (American Express will not be taken). Shoe purchases will be limited to five pairs per customer.
