🔼 Sweeping The Deck. Why swab the deck when you can sweep it?
App State Football moved to 2-0 on the season and 4-0 in the FBS series with East Carolina by winning 27-24 in Greenville on Saturday afternoon.
Offensively, QB Malachi Singleton and running backs Jaquari Lewis and Treyaun Webb all ran in touchdowns, while Singleton finished 20-of-28 for 267 yards through the air.
Defensively, the Mountaineers made the biggest plays when they mattered the most, including a strip-sack by Caleb Sandstrom to set up App State’s first TD and a interception by Dre Walker with less than three minutes left in the game and the Pirates driving.
Up next, App State is set to host Charlotte for Black Saturday (Under the Lights) next weekend in Boone.
🔼 Pickin’ Up A Pair. App State Volleyball picked up a pair of wins at the annual Mountaineer Classic.
Led offensively by Bella Hutchens (34 kills) and Delanie Grevengoed (30 kills), App State rolled past William & Mary 3-0 on Friday and capped the weekend off with a hard-fought 3-1 win over in-state foe Western Carolina on Sunday.
Raegan Richardson (121 assists) and MeMe Davis (58 digs) were both named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Mountaineers will wrap up nonconference play this week with a midweek trip to NC State, followed by a weekend tournament at Eastern Kentucky.
🔼 Title Touting. Twenty years removed from a dominant run to a second straight national title, App State Football's 2006 championship team will be honored and celebrated during the Oct. 10 home game against Old Dominion.
That is also Homecoming weekend in Boone, with a kickoff time scheduled for 1 p.m. in Kidd Brewer Stadium. Members of the 2006 team will be recognized on the field during the Sun Belt Conference opener for the Mountaineers.
Saturday’s win in Greenville marked App State’s 100th victory since 2015. Where does that rank nationally among FBS schools over that span?
