Throughout the summer, we have been counting down the days
to the return of App State Football. The Mountaineers are just days
awaiting from hosting Maine on September 5 at 3:30 p.m.
3️⃣ Days Away. It’s almost time. We are just three days away from kickoff!
After arriving in Boone in 2017, Shaun Jolly steadily developed into one of the top cornerbacks of App State’s FBS era during his career with the Mountaineers.
Jolly’s breakout season came in 2019 as a sophomore when he earned a starting spot, intercepted five passes, returned two for touchdowns and earned second-team All-America honors from PFF College. He remained a fixture in the Mountaineers’ secondary over his final two seasons. He earned All-America honorable mention recognition from Phil Steele in 2020 and finished his career as a three-time first-team All-Sun Belt selection.
Across his three seasons as a starting corner, Jolly totaled 112 tackles, six interceptions, 25 passes defended, 6.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles, while helping anchor some of App State’s best defenses.

🔼 Three More Sleeps. A new season kicks off at The Rock on Saturday as App State welcomes Maine to Kidd Brewer Stadium for a 3:30 p.m. season opener.
The Mountaineers begin year two under head coach Dowell Loggains with a revamped roster featuring 73 newcomers and a signing class rated as the best in both App State and Sun Belt history.
App State will look to start the new campaign on the right foot in front of another packed crowd in Boone with Saturday’s game being a Gold Out at Kidd Brewer.
🔼 Allow Me To Introduce Myself. Two new faces for App State Volleyball introduced themselves in a big way in the season-opening weekend at the Charlotte Invitational.
North Carolina natives Brooke Doherty (Holly Springs) and Chelsea Gilmore (Charlotte) joined the Mountaineers this fall as transfers and both earned All-Tournament Team accolades as App State picked up two wins over the weekend.
Doherty led the way with 42 kills for the squad, while Gilmore piled up 18 kills and 17 blocks in the three matches.
🔼 Movin’ On Up. Just a few months into his MLB affiliated career, App State Baseball product Bradley Wilson is already moving up through the Toronto Blue Jays organization.
Wilson, who signed a free-agent minor league deal in May, was promoted last month to High-A Vancouver.
Since the big right-hander has arrived in Vancouver, he’s appeared in four games, racking up 12 innings of work with a 3.00 ERA and picking up two saves.
In a recent episode of the Nothin’ But An App State Podcast, Bret and Adam introduce football newcomer Alex Mitchell.
On the field, the MTSU transfer has over 200 collegiate tackles on his resume, but off the field, he’s hooked some big ones on the lake.
