🔼 Mighty Malachi. Coming off a career-high performance in Saturday’s win over Charlotte, Malachi Singleton brought home Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week accolades.
In the 26-21 win over the 49ers, Singleton finished 28-of-42 with 331 yards and two TDs through te air. He also added 14 rushing yards and his first career reception for another 14 yards.
Singleton spread the ball to 10 different teammates through the air, while he himself was App State's 11th different pass catcher on the night.
🔼 Bayou Bound. Boasting the longest unbeaten streak in program history, App State soccer heads to the Bayou to take on Louisiana Tech.
Tomorrow night will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs with the Bulldogs officially joining the league this past July.
The Mountaineers will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak to 10 straight games after defeating Georgia State, 1-0, in last week’s league opener at home.
Kickoff in Ruston, La. is set for 7 p.m. ET tomorrow night.
🔼 Diving Into League Play. After taking two of three on their trip to Kentucky last weekend, App State Volleyball turns its attention to Sun Belt Conference play this week, opening the league schedule with a two-match road series against Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va.
The Mountaineers will face the Monarchs at 5 p.m. tomorrow night and 5 p.m. Friday.
App State showed plenty of offensive balance during their final nonconference weekend at EKU. Bella Hutchens totaled a team-high 31 kills across Friday's two victories, while setter Raegan Richardson handed out 48 assists and moved closer to the 2,000-assist milestone for her career.
Tomorrow night will be the 10th all-time meeting between the two programs with App State having won five of the past seven matches against the Monarchs.
🔼 Sunday Standouts. It was another weekend of highlight performances for the #AppStateNFL contingent.
Leading the way was, Akeem Davis-Gaither who piled up a team-high 14 tackles for Indianapolis in a 33-30 overtime battle at Kansas City on Sunday night. Davis-Gaither finished with seven solo stops and seven assists, giving him 22 tackles through the first two games of the season.
Offensive lineman Ryan Neuzil also earned recognition despite Atlanta's loss to Carolina, landing on PFF's Week 2 Team of the Week at center.
On special teams, veteran Sam Martin helped Carolina to a convincing 34-3 road victory over Atlanta. Martin averaged 48.2 yards on four punts, recorded a 46.5-yard net average and dropped three punts inside the 20-yard line, with a long of 54 yards.
After three weeks, Malachi Singleton currently leads the Sun Belt in passing yards per game (296.3), total offense (305.3) and pass efficiency (169.3).
