🟡 And much more
The latest Nothin’ But An App State podcast episode covers a lot of ground and includes a pair of interviews with Arizona Cardinals linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither and App State Field Hockey standout Frederique Grimbergen, plus Adam and Bret reflect on their decade-long friendships with Shawn Clark.
🔼 Battling The Broncos. Two programs synonymous with signature moments and championship-level success will finally meet as FBS counterparts.
App State is heading west from the Blue Ridge Mountains to face Boise State on "The Blue" of Albertsons Stadium. FS1 will air the nonconference game, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET (5:30 p.m. MT) on Saturday.
The Mountaineers don't head west all that often, as this will mark their 11th game outside the Eastern or Central time zones, with six of the first 10 being either FCS playoff games (three times) or Sun Belt Conference games against now-departed league members Idaho and New Mexico State.
🔼 Down Goes #1. Coming into her final season as a Mountaineer, senior Savannah Dada-Mascoll is looking to cap off an already star-studded collegiate career.
On Wednesday, she did just that, taking down the #1 collegiate player in the country, Auburn’s DJ Bennett, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 in the first round of the ITA All-American Championships in Cary.
The march continued on Thursday when Dada-Mascoll advanced to the Sweet 16 with a straight set victory, 6-4, 6-1. She’ll play for a spot in the final eight later today.
🔼 Feelin’ The Love. Playing in the City of Brotherly Love, Herman Huus was feeling the love on the links this week at the Temple Invitational.
Huus’ third-place overall finish led the App State Men’s Golf team to a fourth-place overall finish in the 13-team event.
Played on a par-70 layout at The 1912 Club outside of Philadelphia, the Mountaineers were in first place after 18 holes and finished with a 22-over total of 278-291-293—862.
Huus opened the event with a 3-under round and finished at 2 over (67-72-73—212).
