🟡 And much more

🔼 Took ‘Em To The Wire. The heart and fight of App State Football was on full display on Saturday night in Raleigh.

The Mountaineers put together a dramatic fourth-quarter rally against NC State, but a late drive by the Wolfpack was enough as App State dropped a hard-fought 41-31 decision to the Wolfpack in front of a sold-out Carter-Finley Stadium.

"I think our guys believe and I think they've got a lot of fight in them," App State head coach Dowell Loggains said. “I'm super proud of the team. They got put in a tough spot. They battled, They fought. So I'm really pleased with that part of it. But we came here to try to win the football game, and we didn't get that done."

🔼 Crown ‘Em. After opening Sun Belt play on last Thursday with a win over ODU, the Mountaineers capped off their opening conference series with a dominant performance on Friday night, sweeping the Monarchs in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-9, 25-10.

Charlotte Thompson set the tone for App State with her second straight double-digit kill performance with a team-high 13 kills on the day.

Once again, Raegan Richardson was an assist machine with 30 more on Friday, while MeMe Davis locked down the backline with 13 digs and added in three service aces for good measure.

🔼 So Fresh, So Clean. And the streak continues.

App State Soccer battled ODU to a scoreless draw in Sun Belt action on Sunday in The Valley, extending the program-record unbeaten streak to 10 consecutive games.

In a battle between two teams that still have not conceded a goal in league play this season, that trend continued Sunday, with App State recording its seventh clean sheet of the season, led by four saves from Hanna Skogsfors against the reigning Sun Belt East Division champs.

🔼 Turnin’ Heads. Before Sunday’s regular season finale in Seattle, App State’s own Jackson Steensma was honored by the Mariners as one of the organization’s eight annual award-winners.

The right-hander finished the season with a 6.10 strikeout-to-walk ratio, ranking 14th-best in the minor leagues. Among California League pitching leaders, Steensma ranked 12th in K/9 (12.67), 8th in BB/9 (2.08), 7th in WHIP and 16th in opponent batting average.

He finished with 61 strikeouts in 43.1 innings of work at Class-A Inland Empire in his first professional season.

Raegan Richardson arrived in Boone after two seasons in Florida and has been a dominant force for App State Volleyball.

Through 16 matches, she’s already dished out 568 assists. How many times has she reached 40+ in a single match?
