🔼 Walk It Off. After kicking off the weekend with a 2-0 win over Bellarmine, App State Field Hockey capped off its weekend sweep with a thrilling 5-4 walk-off win over 18th-ranked JMU on Sunday.
The win over the Dukes improved the Mountaineers to 8-1 overall and gives them their second ranked win in the past three seasons.
Sophia Baxter, Lise Boekaar, Frederique Grimbergen, Hadley Kuzmicky and Kassie Paul all found the back of the cage in the matchup against JMU. Boekaar's goal came in overtime, fitting it in the right side of the goal to clinch the win for the Mountaineers.
🔼 Ticket Punched. After a gritty week at the ITA All-American Championships, App State Tennis standout Savannah Dada-Mascoll punched her ticket to the 2025 NCAA Singles Championships later this fall.
The NCAA Singles Championships will be hosted from November 18-23 in Orlando, Fla.
🔼 Dukin’ It Out. The App State Volleyball squad opened their Sun Belt slate off in a major way, earning a split with perennial league power, James Madison, this past weekend.
On Friday night, the Mountaineers rolled to a 3-1 victory over the Dukes, but JMU responded with a 3-1 win of their own on Saturday.
Addison Heidemann had a monster weekend with 88 assists and 19 digs, while Maya Winterhoff (28 kills) and Keionna Mackey (26 kills) paced the offensive attack.
🔼 Bronco Battle. A second-half touchdown drew App State Football within striking range, but Boise State responded with a dominant stretch of play to pull away in a 47-14 victory at sold-out Albertsons Stadium on Saturday night.
Trailing by 17 early in the third quarter, App State forced a Boise State punt and delivered two big plays to pull within 24-14, but the Broncos put up 23 more points over the next 15-plus minutes, capping the run with their second pick-six interception return of the night.
App State is back in action Saturday with a home game against Oregon State. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The latest Nothin’ But An App State podcast episode covers a lot of ground and includes a pair of interviews with Arizona Cardinals linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither and App State Field Hockey standout Frederique Grimbergen, plus Adam and Bret reflect on their decade-long friendships with Shawn Clark.
