🔼 Five-Star Rating. The new look App State Football squad earned a five-star rating after putting on a quite a show in Saturday’s opener against Maine at The Rock.

In front of a sold-out crowd of 33,664 at Kidd Brewer Stadium, the Mountaineers rolled to a 55-3 victory over the Black Bears.

Beginning their second season under the direction of head coach Dowell Loggains, with 73 newcomers on the roster, the Mountaineers posted the program's largest margin of victory since a 72-7 win against Gardner-Webb in 2018.

App State shut out Maine until the final minute of the third quarter, building a 38-0 lead as Malachi Singleton completed 22 of 24 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns in less than three full quarters of work.

🔼 Opening Act. The App State men's and women's cross-country teams opened the 2026 season with a strong showing at this past weekend’s Covered Bridge Invitational.

The men earned a first-place finish, ahead of 20th-ranked Georgia, while the women earned a second-place finish.

In the men's 6K, Noah Martinson led the way, earning a third-place finish with a time of 17:49.4. The next five runners who crossed the finish line (and seven of the top 10) were Mountaineers.

Sophomore Josie Jackson started her season off strong with a sixth-place finish and a time of 18:14.5 in the women's 5K.

🔼 Saturday Night Springs. With only a few weeks left in the 2026 MLB season, App State alum Jeffrey Springs put together one of his best performances of the year and his career on Saturday night.

The southpaw tossed seven scoreless innings in a road victory at Seattle. He allowed just two hits, while striking out six to pick his 38th career win.
