 📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Youth Of A Nation. The future of the App State baseball program is in good hands as App State shortstop Tyler Lichtenberger was named the Sun Belt Baseball Freshman Of The Year this week.

He was one of three Mountaineers honored in the All-Conference accolades with Kameron Miller and Tyler Figueroa also being recognized.

Lichtenberger earned first-team recognition at shortstop, while Miller represented the league as its first-team designated hitter. Figueroa garnered second-team recognition as a utility player.

It marks the first time since 2021 that App State earned three all-conference selections, while Lichtenberger became the second App State player to earn Sun Belt Freshman of the Year honors, joining Austin St. Laurent (2022). Scott Waugh (1988), Johnny McCraw (1989), Kenny Osborne (1993) and Jaylin Davis (2013) earned Southern Conference Freshman of the Year honors.

🔼 Raising The Bar. A pair of Mountaineer track & field stars raised the bar, literally, to new heights this past weekend.

Sophomore Matthew Gray and freshman Lilly Nichols set a pair of new program records at the Sunday Night Qualifier meet at the Randy Marion Track & Field Facility. In total, App State notched 11 top-48 marks in the Sunday's meet across all events and teams.

Gray soared to a new personal best, program and facility record in the men's pole vault, clearing a bar of 5.43m (17' 9.75"). His performance eclipsed the previous program record of 5.38m (17' 7.75"), which he set at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships and the facility record of 5.35m (17' 6.5"), which he jointly held with graduate student Patrick Freeman

On the women’s side, Nichols cleared a personal best and set a new program record of 4.16m (13' 7.75") to place second. Nichols had set the previous pole vault record at 4.11m (13' 5.75") at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships earlier this month.
